Vow of the Dead King – Frost Veil Castle Ruins (Paloon)

➞ This was the first weapon that made me feel like I was finally ahead of the curve.

I found it inside the Frost Veil Castle ruins in Paloon, but getting there wasn’t straightforward. I had to make my way down a staircase that leads into a hidden challenge area. It’s basically a trap-heavy jumping puzzle, and if you’re not careful, your health disappears fast.

Before attempting it, I made sure I had enough healing items because mistakes here are punishing.

At the end of the path, I ran into a blocked entrance covered in spikes. It looked like a dead end at first, but the solution was simple — I lit a nearby brazier, and the spikes dropped instantly.

That opened the way to the weapon.

The Vow of the Dead King gives a +4% damage boost against different enemy types, which is solid on its own. But what really stood out to me was how well it worked with elemental builds. What makes this weapon stand out is its ability, Hound’s Claws. It’s a full 360-degree attack that hits everything around you, and the best part is how easy it is to use repeatedly.

Once I made my way in, I found a chest tucked under a staircase. It’s easy to miss if you’re rushing, so take your time here.

This weapon comes at Level 4 by default and includes stamina siphon, increased attack speed, and higher attack power. The difference was immediate — my attacks felt stronger, faster, and more consistent.

➞ This location is just south of Mist Shard Cave. Compared to the others, this piece was much easier to obtain.

 

Gloves – Lunar Spirit Grotto

➞ I found these while exploring a branching river path in the same region. It’s not marked clearly, so you have to look around carefully.

 

Helmet – Chattering Rocks

➞ The path was blocked by vines, and I had to burn them using my weapon to get through. Once cleared, the chest was easy to access.

 

Cloak – Sanctum of Expiration

➞ This was probably the trickiest piece to get. I had to squeeze through a narrow space and avoid spike traps before reaching the chest.

 

Set Performance

➞ Once I combined the chest and cloak, my frost resistance reached Level 13, which made a noticeable difference in colder regions.

The only downside I noticed is that the chest and cloak can’t be reinforced right now, which limits their long-term scaling. Still, for early progression, the set is extremely useful.

➞ Going into Deinis before you’re fully prepared can feel brutal, but I managed to make it work with a few key steps.

First, I farmed bears near the Sanctum of Penitence to get the Bear Cloak. That alone gave me Level 5 frost resistance.

Then I stopped at the Hernand Inn and bought Satisfying Meat Soup from Dalia, which added another Level 4 resistance.

These two boosts, combined with the armor set, made exploration much more manageable.

Without them, I honestly wouldn’t recommend going there early.
